Third term. Trump teased it for months, and allies sold “Trump 2028” hats. On 28 October 2025 he said, “it’s pretty clear — I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad.” Speaker Mike Johnson said he saw no path to amending the 22nd Amendment. The amendment bars anyone from being elected president more than twice. [1][2]
The Kennedy Center. In late December 2025 the board, which Trump chairs after replacing many trustees, renamed it the “Trump Kennedy Center” and put the name on the facade. On 29 May 2026 Judge Christopher Cooper ruled for Rep. Joyce Beatty, writing that “Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it,” and ordered the name removed within two weeks. Trump responded that he would work to hand the center back to Congress; the same ruling let planned repairs go ahead. [3][4]
Greenland. Trump said repeatedly that the U.S. needed Greenland and would not rule out force. In January 2026, after threatening tariffs on eight European countries, he ruled out force, dropped the tariffs and announced a vague Arctic “framework” with NATO’s secretary-general. Denmark and Greenland say sovereignty is not on the table. In September 2026 the three governments signed a security pact that modestly expands U.S. rights on the island and leaves it Danish; Trump has since said, “I also, by the way, got Greenland.” [5][6][7]
