What the FBI and CIA have released since 2021, and what is still held back

RECORD / AT A GLANCE

Documented

Documented. The releases are real and have changed the picture of Omar al-Bayoumi: FBI memos describe him as a paid Saudi intelligence asset, and evidence seized from him in 2001 was not shared with the agents investigating him. They have not produced a document showing the Saudi government directed the plot. Some records are still withheld; the government says that is to protect classified information, not Saudi Arabia.
