Is there a client list?

What people mean by it, what the government says, and what the records actually hold

RECORD / AT A GLANCE

Disputed

No document matching the popular idea of a “client list” has been found, and the 2026 list of names is not one. But the government’s own records name accusations against other men, an FBI document refers to uncharged “co-conspirators,” and only Maxwell has been convicted. “No list” does not mean “no one else.”

DOCUMENTED Lists, logs & files

“Congressmen found six names the DOJ had wrongly redacted.”

Reps. Khanna and Massie read six names on the House floor. The DOJ said four were random people from an FBI lineup.

Who says it: Khanna and Massie.

PARTLY TRUE Lists, logs & files

“Epstein acted alone; no one else could be charged.”

Only Maxwell has been convicted. The DOJ said it lacked evidence to investigate others; victims have named other men and a 2019 FBI document refers to co-conspirators. “Not charged” is not “no one else.”

Who says it: DOJ–FBI memo; FBI director Patel.

UNPROVEN The man and the money

“Les Wexner was part of Epstein’s crimes.”

A 2019 FBI document in the files calls him a “co-conspirator.” His lawyer says prosecutors told him in 2019 he was a source, not a target; he has never been charged. What is documented is damning enough on its own terms: for years he gave Epstein the money, property and standing that made the rest possible.

Who says it: Reps. Khanna and Massie read his name from unredacted files.

UNPROVEN Lists, logs & files

“There is a secret Epstein client list.”

No document of that kind has surfaced and officials say none exists. Other men have been accused; that is different.

Who says it: Commentators left and right; Bondi in Feb 2025.

FALSE Lists, logs & files

“The January 2024 unsealing was the client list.”

It was names from Giuffre’s suit against Maxwell, including witnesses, staff and people mentioned in passing.

Who says it: Viral posts in January 2024.

FALSE Lists, logs & files

“The DOJ’s list of about 300 names is a client list.”

It lists officials and prominent people “named or referenced” anywhere in the files, including Elvis and Marilyn Monroe.

Who says it: Viral posts.
