THE AI FILES / COLLECTION 037UNIVERSITIES → JOURNALS → THE ARCHIVE

A COLLECTION. FULL GUIDES. THEIR RECORD.

The Academia
Files.

Universities, journals, and the fights over who sets the curriculum and the gate. This is a topic collection: start with the full guides (Long march, Jason Arday, the Sokal Affair, and Grievance Studies / Sokal Squared — all live) — story, critical path, theories. Nest gateways keep permanent URLs meanwhile. This page is not a fact-check board. Media scandals live under The Media Files.

FULL GUIDES INSIDE THIS HUB

Deep dives.
Full AI Files topics.

Each full guide is a complete AI Files topic — story-first, with pictures, a critical path and theories rated against it. Forthcoming cards open nest gateways until those guides ship.

4 live · ALL CONVERTED

All four nest topics now have full guides.

Long march, Jason Arday, the Sokal Affair, and Grievance Studies (Sokal Squared) full guides are live. Nest gateways point at maintained records. Sokal and Grievance Studies belong in this collection, not under The Media Files.

CONTEXT BEFORE CONTROVERSY

What this collection covers.

Academia here means universities, scholarly journals, and the institutions that credential research — not every campus culture war headline.

IDEAS / HIRING / CURRICULA

Institutions and the long march

How New Left and post-1960s projects described — and critics later measured — a walk through universities, foundations, and professional bodies. Primary texts and hiring/data fights belong on the spine; slogans do not.

HOAXES / JOURNALS / PRESTIGE

Peer review under stress

Sokal (1996) and Grievance Studies (2017–18) are journal-integrity cases with loud political afterlives. The Arday case is a prestige-hiring fight. Each guide will separate what editors and employers did from what partisans claim it proved.

Not The Media Files. Left/right media scandals (Fox/Dominion, JournoList, GARM, Wikipedia capture, Smollett as media case) nest under the Media collection. Sokal and Grievance Studies nest here. If a story is both, the maintained full guide lives in one hub and the other links across.

HOW TO READ THIS COLLECTION

Follow the evidence.
Keep the distinctions.

Each story stands alone.

A real journal failure does not prove the next campus rumor. A hoax that lands does not mean every contested paper is fake. Guides judge their own spines.

Primary sources first.

Papers, editor notes, university statements, court and FOIA records where they exist. Commentary is labeled. Grokipedia is never a cite.

Rival critical paths.

Capture theses, generational-change theses, and “nothingburger” theses each get their strongest form, then what they must accept or reject on the path.

A dated AI experiment.

Researched and written by AI. AI can err either way. These are not the site owner’s findings. Spot an error? Use Dispute this.
