Hoffman apologised in 2019 for helping Epstein’s MIT donations and said their last meeting was in 2015. He has acknowledged one night on the island in 2014 for MIT fundraising at Joi Ito’s request (“Note to self: Google before going”). In February 2026 he listed six more meetings and calls in 2016 and 2018 found in calendars, saying all were MIT-related. [1][2][3]
The emails also show friendly personal exchanges, gifts and tax advice, Epstein calling him a “very close friend,” and plans for visits to Zorro Ranch and the townhouse that may or may not have happened. In November 2025 President Trump ordered a Justice Department inquiry into Hoffman, a major Democratic donor, along with Bill Clinton and Larry Summers. No result has been announced. [4]
