The cancer diagnosis

Gleason 9, spread to the bone, four months out of office

Could it have been hidden?

Screening, timing and what is known.

Biden’s office said the cancer had a Gleason score of 9, at the most aggressive end of the scale, and spread to bone, but hormone-sensitive, “which allows for effective management.” [1][2]

Two days later his office said his last known PSA test was in 2014, when he was 71, and that he had never before been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends against routine PSA screening for men 70 and older, because the harms of false positives and overtreatment outweigh the benefits on average. Critics, including some doctors, said a president with daily medical care should have been tested anyway. [3][4]

What we can’t tell you. His complete medical records are not public.

Treatment and after

Radiation, and Hunter on the toll.

He finished a course of radiation at Penn Medicine in Philadelphia on 20 October 2025; his spokeswoman said, “He rang the bell today.” In September 2025 he also had Mohs surgery for skin cancer. On 8 September 2026 he said: “The radiation treatment from last fall worked as intended.” [1][2][3]

In October 2026 Hunter described his father’s ongoing treatment as “like torture” on a podcast. [4]

What we can’t tell you. Biden has not said he is cured; hormone therapy for this kind of cancer typically continues.
