On 19 December 2007 Gawker’s Silicon Valley blog, Valleywag, ran a post headlined “Peter Thiel is totally gay, people.” Thiel had not come out publicly. Forbes’s timeline says the story drew more than 7 million views. [1][2]
Years later he told The New York Times he had spent about $10 million funding lawsuits against Gawker, including Hulk Hogan’s, and called it “less about revenge and more about specific deterrence.” That story is in the Gawker file. [3]
At the 2016 Republican convention he said: “I am proud to be gay. I am proud to be a Republican. But most of all I am proud to be an American.” In 2026 BBC Mundo reported he had moved to Buenos Aires with his husband and children. [4][5]
