The move

What is known.

BBC Mundo reported that he moved temporarily in early April 2026 with his husband and children. The Guardian put the house at $12 million; the Buenos Aires Times reported that a company bought a Buenos Aires house for $13.5 million in August 2025. [1][2][4]

El País reported that the 23 April 2026 meeting at the Casa Rosada was his fourth with Milei in two years. [3]

What we can’t tell you. The house price differs between sources.

The laws and the apocalypse

Two claims, neither proven.

The Guardian reported protests against a proposed investment regime offering foreign companies a minimal tax rate and a 30-year guarantee against regulatory change, and against a decree on personal data. It said: “There is no evidence that Thiel has advocated for these laws directly.” Deputies have asked whether Palantir has undisclosed contracts with the state. [1]

The same report noted his move had been characterized as a hedge against a third world war. That is commentary, not his stated reason. The Buenos Aires Times’s analysis reported Palantir’s filings to do business in Argentina. [1][2]

What we can’t tell you. He has not explained the move publicly.
