Allegations, testers, a settlement.
Government testers found that Black applicants were told no apartments were available while white applicants were offered units. Trump, then 27, denied the charges, and the Trumps, represented by Roy Cohn, filed a $100 million counterclaim, which the judge dismissed. [1]
The 1975 consent decree required the company to advertise to minority applicants and give the New York Urban League a chance to refer applicants for vacancies, and it contained no admission of liability. [2]
