The Justice Department released about three million pages of Epstein files on 30 January 2026. [3]

In November 2012, Epstein asked how many people would come by helicopter to the island. Musk replied: “Probably just Talulah and me. What day/night will be the wildest party on your island?” In January 2013 a reply said logistics would not work. In December 2013, Musk wrote that he would be in the British Virgin Islands and St. Barts area and asked if it was a good time to visit; Epstein cancelled. The emails do not show a visit. [1][2]

Musk told Vanity Fair in 2019 that Epstein had “tried repeatedly” to get him to the island and he declined. After the release he said he had very little correspondence with Epstein, had declined invitations, and that the emails could be misinterpreted. He called the release a distraction unless it led to prosecutions. [1][4][5]

Earlier, he had visited Epstein’s Manhattan home briefly with Talulah Riley, and he said a photo of him with Ghislaine Maxwell was her “photobombing” him. A calendar entry released by House Democrats in 2025 read “Reminder: Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?)”; Musk said it was false. [1]
