On 30 May 2025, the New York Times reported that Musk used ketamine often during the 2024 campaign, to the point of affecting his bladder, and also used ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms, citing people familiar with it. [1]
Musk denied it, saying he had tried prescription ketamine years ago and was not taking it now. On 17 June he posted a negative test; the Times said the test did not contradict its reporting, which covered earlier periods. [2][3][5]
He smoked marijuana on Joe Rogan’s podcast in 2018. [4]
