Data access in court

Social Security, USAID and the labor board.

On 6 June 2025, the Supreme Court paused a lower-court order and let DOGE staff access Social Security data while the case continued. Three justices dissented. [1][2]

In March 2025, Judge Theodore Chuang found that Musk had likely acted as an officer without Senate confirmation, in violation of the Appointments Clause; an appeals court paused the ruling. [3]

A labor-board IT staffer, Daniel Berulis, told Congress about 10 gigabytes of data left the board after DOGE arrived. The board denied a breach. [4]

What we can’t tell you. Litigation over several databases continued after Musk left.
