The critical path
A critical path is the load-bearing chain any serious reading of decline concealment must handle — sharpness and cheapfake messaging, Hur’s memory language, the June 2024 debate collapse, family hold and withdrawal, Original Sin, O’Connor and aides taking the Fifth, plus the House decline evidence (with Autopen power questions on their own file). Each card teaches what later conclusions cannot stand if this step falls.

White House brands viral acuity clips as cheapfakes ten days before the debate.[1]
In the narrativeChapter 2 — messaging.
Why critical — if this fallsIf the official line treated decline evidence as propaganda, later debate collapse exposes a messaging gap — the concealment hinge.
Any rival theory must account forKJP cheapfake framing in mid-June 2024.

Mid-June 2024 White House line against acuity clips.
Karine Jean-Pierre branded viral decline videos cheapfakes days before the debate. Some edits were misleading; the blanket label also policed genuine concern. [1]
Documented messaging behavior. Not proof every clip was honest.
Special Counsel Robert Hur — author of the February 2024 report language on memory. House / DOJ release context · free license as credited · As labeled
Special Counsel report’s elderly/poor-memory passage.
Hur declined charges but described poor memory — a credibility note that became a political bomb. [1][2]
Documented report language; not a clinical diagnosis.
Before June 2024, large parts of institutional America treated “Biden is sharp; decline talk is a bad-faith op” as the responsible consensus. After the debate, and especially after Original Sin and the 2025 Fifth Amendment fight, that consensus reads as a superseded belief — a memory node, not a criminal verdict against every prior defender. Superseded belief tracks how confidence hierarchies failed to update when load-bearing evidence arrived. Rival paths that restore the pre-debate consensus must still account for Hur’s published language, the cheapfake line ten days before the debate, the live multi-network debate video, and later non-cooperation by the physician and senior aides. Being late or wrong about acuity is not the same as proving a criminal conspiracy; it is still central to whether concealment-by-messaging happened as asked.
Hur declined prosecution on the classified-documents theory while publishing memory and credibility language that the White House immediately contested (“my memory is fine”). That contest is part of the concealment spine: an official DOJ-adjacent warning sat in public for months while sharpness messaging continued. Do not treat the no-charge decision as a clean bill of cognitive health — Hur was not running a neurology clinic — and do not treat Biden’s denial as deciding proof that clears the report’s language. Both the report PDF and the February 8 White House response are primary nodes.

Sharpness enforcement vs autopsy journalism.
Pre-debate cheapfake norms versus post-debate reckoning. [1][2][3]
Documented frame shift; not a single-editor conspiracy.
Memory work on this file is not nostalgia. It is a checkpoint: any rival reading that restores the pre-debate “he’s fine” consensus must still face Hur’s published language, the mid-June cheapfake line, the live June 27 debate video, Original Sin’s access map, and the 2025 Fifth Amendment non-cooperation by the physician and senior aides. Polling that showed private age anxiety while elites treated the topic as unmentionable belongs in the same then/now ledger. Late validators who switched after the debate are part of the record of how confidence hierarchies moved — evidence of concealment-by-messaging and validator lag, not automatic proof of a criminal conspiracy among every prior defender. Keep that distinction hard; do not let it become a hedge that downgrades the asked cover-up claim.

O’Connor, Bernal, Tomasini non-cooperation.
Fifth is a right, not an admission; still a primary fact on concealment spine. Majority: no cognitive exam. [1][2][3]
A Fifth Amendment invocation is a constitutional right, not an admission and not an erasure. On a concealment ledger it still matters that the physician best positioned to answer cognitive-exam and fitness questions, and named senior aides, refused sworn answers in the Oversight fight. Pair those invocations with the majority’s later no-cognitive-exam assertion and with Original Sin’s access-management picture. Gaps remain: what a full deposition would have said; how much is attorney strategy versus substance. Those gaps belong on the cards — they do not license ignoring the pattern of non-cooperation after years of “sharp as a tack” messaging.

Decline evidence usable here; autopen and approval claims rated next door.
Majority mixes decline and autopen; minority stresses oral decisions. This deep uses the decline chapters and leaves approval fights to Autopen. [1][2][3]
Keep the majority’s decline chapters and its autopen/approval chapters on separate rating rails even when they share a PDF cover. Decline evidence (schedule control, post-debate workup recommendations, physician silence under oath, no disclosed cognitive exam) feeds the concealment spine rated here. Autopen clemency and “who approved what” stay Unproven on the sibling nest and must not be imported as a substitute downgrade of cover-up. Minority rebuttals that emphasize oral decisions and ordinary staff support are evidence on the power question; they do not erase the pre-debate messaging gap on acuity. Indictment language does not apply to a congressional majority report — treat it as a partisan primary to weigh beside Hur, debate video, and Fifth invocations, not as a court finding of guilt.

Neighboring claims
Rate the asked claim on its own spine. “Was decline concealed by messaging, access control, and validator norms until the debate made the sharpness line untenable?” is not answered by “did unelected staff exercise presidential powers without him?” That second question belongs on the Autopen nest, where staff-power remains a separate, harder claim. Fusing the two is a classic hedge: it parks a well-supported concealment record behind an unproven usurpation theory. Uniform evidence rules apply — White House denials, cheapfake talking points, and later “everyone knew” shrugs are noted; they do not auto-clear the pre-debate gap between official sharpness messaging and the load-bearing public record (Hur language, limited-access reporting, then live debate performance). Gaps that remain honestly open — how early which principals knew clinical detail; motive versus habit — belong inside this claim, not as a dodge into an adjacent conspiracy.

This file answers whether decline was concealed. The Autopen nest answers whether staff exercised presidential powers without him. [1][3]
